On Tuesday, January 24th, Grace Ladies and the men from the Men’s Breakfast, welcomed guest speakers Mary Purkey, founder, and Loic Mercier, team member, of the Mae Sot Education Project in Thailand. This project is based at Bishops University and allows a few prepared university students a year to travel to Thailand and work directly with displaced Burmese refugees in an educational setting. Each volunteer work experience there, according to Loic, is rewarding and life-changing. One quickly realizes the struggles and sacrifices these refugees have made when forced to leave Myanmar, their homeland. The work of this project continues thanks to gathered donations.
Many thanks to all the people and groups, who donated on Tuesday to the ongoing work of the Mae Sot Project.
