Surprise Birthday Party for Leona Coates October 24

The people at the Lawrence Community Centre are planning a SURPRISE birthday on Saturday, October 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the community hall ( former church). Best wishes only – lunch served. The honoree has long been a major part of the community and church  Join the people of Lawrence to wish her well at this early birthday celebration as she will soon be moving to Bury.

Lectio Divina every Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 9:55 am in the Upper Room at St George’s, Lennoxville, beginning October 6. All are welcome to this gentle service of meditation on the Word. Be prepared for holy silence and an encounter with God. For more information about this practice, please contact Lynn at[email protected]

There will be a Eucharist service at the St. Francis Manor in Lennoxville on Friday, October 9 at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

Opening to the Spirit Retreat – October 16 at 5:30pm until October 18th at 4:00pm

All are invited to join the authors of the weekly “Opening to the Spirit” column for a time of spiritual reflection, relaxation, worship, and nature. Options available during the retreat include: walking the labyrinth, collage-making, writing, singing, guided meditation, mindfulness, and more. Come to engage; come to relax; come to create. Cost of the retreat starts at $200 and included overnight accommodation in Eastman, six meals, and all workshop materials. Harvest Supper

October 17, 5 p.m. St. Barnabas Church, Milby, at Ives Hill Community Hall, 370 Ch. Ives Hill, Compton. Cost $12 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under. MENU:  Ham, scalloped potatoes, squash, baked beans, salads, homemade rolls and dessert. Empty Bowls Lunch on Saturday, October 17 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Third annual Empty Bowls Lunch at Hope Community Church on the corner of Queen and College in the Lennoxville, Sherbrooke. Come and choose your beautiful handmade pottery bowl and enjoy homemade soup. Tickets are $25 and all the money raised goes to help feed the hungry in our own neighbourhood.

 

Used Book Sale, October 22, 23 and 24

Benefits the BU/CRC Refugee Student Sponsorship Committee. The sale will take place at The Lennoxville United Church, 6 Church Street on the following days: Thursday, October 22 from 4 – 8 p.m.; Friday, October 23 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m. – noon with a $3 bag sale from noon – 1 p.m. All proceeds go to supporting sponsored refugee students.

 

Rummage Sale  St. George’s, Lennoxville

Thursday, October 29, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, October 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and BAG SALE on October 31, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Articles for the sale may be left at the Church Hall during the week of October 25.

DEANERY MEETING OPEN TO ALL

There will be a meeting of all the Deanery churches which are members of the team ministry model on Saturday, November 7 at St. George’s Lennoxville from 10 am to noon. This will be an information and discussion meeting with an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions. Treasurers and wardens are expected to attend, but the meeting is open to all interested members of the Deanery.
