NEW LIFE FOR QUEBEC LODGE
bulletin May 1, 2007
by John W. Moses for the Re-Imagining Committee

After a year's worth of work, the Re-Imagining Quebec Lodge Committee presented a proposal to the Diocesan Executive Council that it felt addressed the needs and concerns of the Diocese of Quebec and provided an opportunity to build on the camp's proud history and design a facility and program that would attract new generations of campers and other users to the shores of Lake Massawippi.

At its meeting on April 27 and 28, 2007, the DEC accepted the Re-Imagining Committee's proposal. Under the terms of this agreement, the Diocese will seek to sell a sizeable portion of the lakefront property to a responsible developer and will sell, at market value, the remaining lakefront, a large section of the land between the lake and Chemin du Lac as well as the current Pioneer camp site for the reconstituting of Quebec Lodge.

The Re-Imagining Committee will now focus its energies on securing gifts for the purchase of the desired property and to engaging in serious planning efforts to design a new camp and new camp programs. The Committee is committed to retaining the Christian character of the camp and to exploring programs that will serve both the anglophone and francophone communities in Quebec and beyond.
